The upstairs exterior walls are 75% complete, and it’s looking great. The roof line will extend about 16’ off to the left hand side of the house over a covered terrace - that will give the house the long, low-slung proportion that we love so much in mid-century modern homes.
It’s been fun to watch the leaves change color - I don’t think we fully appreciated the view from the site until we were able to stand upstairs and look out the big windows.

Another shot of the downstairs with the ceiling framed-in…a lot of tricky details in the framing plan, and the crew did an incredible job executing.

It’s been another thrilling week on the project…framers completed the downstairs ceiling and top floor sub-floor. It’s looking better than we had ever imagined!

First lumber drop arrived yesterday. We were hoping to start framing today but the weather didn’t cooperate…guess that’s what we get for building in Seattle in October!

If you are ever bored, try digging a 24” trench around a 100 year old maple tree. Oh, but watch out for
40 year old phone lines. When you mistake them for a root it can cause delay and probably a repair bill from Centurylink.

Another 75% off retail ebay steal — Our new Kuppersbusch induction cooktop. Kuppersbusch is a 100+ year old German company specializing in commercial food service equipment. It’s a little known brand outside of appliance-geek circles, and typically way outside of our price range, but for $1000 on ebay we couldn’t pass it up.
